She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Heart Association, and Society for Neuroscience. Dr. Kitago's research interests include motor recovery after stroke, stroke rehabilitation, and motor learning mechanisms. She is a member of the Motor Performance Laboratory at Columbia University, which is dedicated to the multi-disciplinary study of motor control in health and neurologic disease, with a focus on stroke and movement disorders. Her current research projects include investigations in the role of motor learning in recovery after stroke, and the mechanisms underlying stroke recovery using kinematic analysis, structural and functional MRI, and transcranial magnetic stimulation.
