Dr. Hauser is a neurologist and epileptologist. He completed Medical School at St. Louis University. He did a neurology residency at Northwestern University, and completed a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. He was on the faculty of the University of Minnesota prior to moving to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University where he is currently a Professor Emeritus of Neurology and Epidemiology. His research focuses on the epidemiology of convulsive disorders with specific interest in prognosis of newly diagnosed epilepsy and risk factors for epilepsy.
